The Bachelorette's Justin Glaze Apologizes for "Ignorant" Past Tweets

July 13, 2021

Justin Glaze has apologized for a series of past tweets that were unearthed by Bachelorette fans and posted on Reddit. People reports that Justin “uses homophobic slurs and makes insulting comments about Black women while also promoting colorism” in the tweets, which were written between 2009 and 2011.

Justin addressed the tweets on the Bachelor Happy Hour while speaking to Becca Kufrin and Bachelorette co-host Tayshia Adams.

Justin added that “the last thing that I want to do is run” from the tweets, and said that at the age of 14 he “felt the need to fit in and say funny things and keep up with what my peers were doing and saying.” He added that “the folks I had associated with would throw around really hurtful slurs that, at the time, I didn’t really think anything of.”

Justin acknowledged that his tweets were and are “ignorant and hurtful” and noted that he is in a “much different place now” and is ashamed of the words he used.

Justin also said he’s “not making any excuses” and “I need to be fully held accountable for my actions and my words. I fully understand that, and I just want people to know that I’ve changed immensely since then and I’m fully aware of the weight that my words carry.”

At this point, neither Katie Thurston nor ABC have commented on Justin’s tweets, though Katie shared his interview on her Instagram Story.
