The BBC business competition is almost over with just the grand finale of The Apprentice 2023 left to air. For weeks, the candidates have been tasked with impressing Lord Sugar, whether it be by making a profit or creating an original product. While the challenges themselves may be difficult, it is often the beginning of every episode which gets fans’ attention after receiving the mystery phone call.
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from The Apprentice.
After a recap from the week before, every episode of The Apprentice starts in the mansion where the candidates seemed to have been woken up by the phone ringing.
Someone races down the staircase to answer the call and is told there will be cars waiting for them outside in 20 minutes.
The candidate then rushes to the bedrooms to let the others know where they are heading and if they need to bring anything, like an overnight bag.
Miraculously, despite all of them being shown still in bed just moments before, they are fully dressed and out the door, supposedly meeting the 20-minute deadline they were given.
So do the candidates actually have to run out the door in the small time frame or is it simply a filming trick?
According to fired star Simba Rwambiwa, there is no deception involved, they really do need to be out the door in less than half an hour after waking up.
Talking to Express.co.uk, Simba commented: “I don’t know why no one believes that’s realistic but yes, we genuinely do get 20 minutes to get ready and we’re out the doors to start the day, start the task.
“It’s true! No one ever believes that and I don’t know why!”
Simba continued to explain how the stars soon worked out how they were going to make this deadline every week.
“Do you know what it is? At the beginning, you potentially might struggle.
“But as you now know you literally get this limited allocated amount of time, you prepare everything in advance.
“You have your clothes ready, you have your hair ready, you have everything ready so essentially, all you need to do is showering, putting your face on, whatever for the girls, and getting yourself dressed.
“And that’s it, you’re out the door.”

This week saw the remaining five candidates face their toughest challenge yet: the interviews.
Megan Hornby, Victoria Goulbourne, Marnie Swindells, Dani Donovan and Rochelle Raye Anthony had to hand over their business plans to be heavily scrutinised by some of Lord Sugar’s most trusted colleagues.
This time around, they were faced with Linda Plant, Mike Soutar, Claude Littner and Baroness Karren Brady.
While they were all left feeling a little hot under the collar, only two entrepreneurs could make it to the final.
Lord Sugar seemed to struggle with which of the two women he wanted to make it to the end but with Karren and Tim Campbell’s help, he came to a decision.
Sadly, it was the end for Victoria, Dani and Megan as they were all fired from the show.
This left hair salon owner Rochelle and court advocate Marnie who are going to fight for that £250,000 investment in next week’s episode.
The Apprentice is available to watch on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
