The adorable way Rupert Grint made his Instagram debut

November 13, 2020

He may have traded in his cloak for some diapers and bottles, but Rupert Grint proved he’s still got it with his epic Instagram debut. The actor, who’s most well-known for playing Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter movie franchise, joined the social media platform on Nov. 10, 2020, scoring a few more points to Gryffindor.

“Hey Instagram … only 10 years late, but here I am,” Grint captioned his first post, while giving fans a glimpse of his baby daughter, whom he welcomed in May with longtime partner Georgia Groome. “Grint on the Gram! Here to introduce you all to Wednesday G. Grint. Stay safe, Rupert,” he added alongside the sweet photo of his little girl wearing pink and laying on his chest. Although Grint didn’t show off her gummy smile, it seems like she may have gotten her father’s iconic red hair from the look of the peach fuzz on her bald head.

Rupert Grint's Instagram gives a nod to his Harry Potter roots

Unlike most celebrities who hit mega-fame as an adolescent, Rupert Grint hasn’t forgotten wear he came from. In fact, the former child star made his first Instagram profile picture a photo with actress Maggie Smith (but you may know her as Professor McGonagall) planting a kiss on his cheek — giving a nod to his days at Hogwarts.

In the comments section of Grint’s first post, Harry Potter fans and his co-stars rejoiced and gave him a warm welcome to the platform. “Welcome Weasley, it’s about time,” Tom Felton, a.k.a. Draco Malfoy, wrote on the photo of Grint and his little girl, per The Loop. He added, “Love to Wednesday xx.” Aww. Diehard fans also noticed that Grint gave Felton a follow, as well as Emma Watson, who played Grint’s best friend-turned-wife Hermione Granger.

So far, there hasn’t been any word on what Daniel Radcliffe thinks of all this hubbub around his old pal. However, the movie actor-turned-Broadway star previously told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live that he did send Grint a congratulatory text following the birth of his daughter. “I’m so happy for him,” Radcliffe said during the May 2020 interview. “It’s very, very cool. It is also super weird for me to think that we are all of the age where we are having children, but we definitely are.” From Quidditch to Instagram, it looks like the Harry Potter crew will always hold the Sorcerer’s Stone in their hearts.
