Strictly Come Dancing: ’She has to FIT IN’ Richard Madeley calls Shirley Ballas ‘tricky’

When Strictly Come Dancing returns later this year viewers are going be treated to a major shake up on the BBC competition’s judging panel.

Fans were shocked when ballerina Dame Darcey Bussell revealed she was leaving the show and wouldn’t be returning in the next series, thanking producers, her colleagues and the public for their support and her years on the panel.

There now remains a slot on the panel next to fellow judges Craig Revel Horwood, Shirley Ballas and Bruno Tonioli.

In an interview with former professional dancer on the show Kristina Rihanoff, ITV Good Morning Britain host Richard Madeley claimed when the show has decided Darcey’s successor Shirley, 58, would need to try her best to “fit in” with them.

“Shirley Ballas can be a bit tricky,” Richard said. “So she’s going to have to fit in with the personality of the other judges isn’t she?”

Shrugging her shoulders over the comment, Kristina simply went on to gush over Darcey, claiming she also had an “overwhelming personality”, and it wouldn’t make any difference when the judge takes their place in the hot seat.

“Darcey had an overwhelming personality,” she said. “But she was very very kind and true to herself.”

In terms of whether the dancer would take on the role herself, Kristina enthused about the opportunity.

“Of course I would love to be a judge,” she said. “But I don’t see myself in that role yet… I think the panel needs another woman and someone from a different background to ballroom dancing.

“Someone from street dancing or a commercial dancing background, who is also a professional dancer and perhaps a judge.”
