Spoilers: Ian Beale destroys Dotty with cruel lie to Sharon in EastEndersSeptember 8, 2020
Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) has unveiled his most ruthless side in EastEnders after cruelly painting Dotty Cotton (Milly Zero) as a liar when she revealed the truth about Dennis Rickman’s death to Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean).
With Ian having riled Dotty up, she decided that Sharon had a right to know about what really happened to Denny – and she told the grieving mum that Ian locked Dennis below the deck, which led to him drowning.
As Ian denied this and Max Branning (Jake Wood) stepped in to say that he saw Ian racing to save Dennis, Sharon branded Dotty a bitch as she smashed a bottle of wine and threw her out, despite her sticking to her guns and insisting that Ian had done it because Dennis had sent abuse to Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell).
With Ian painting Dotty as damaged and wanting revenge because he reported her for drugs, she was disgusted at the depths he would sink to in order to clear his own name – but Sharon warned Dotty never to come near her family ever again.
As Bobby confronted Dotty, she insisted that what she had said was true and Ian was worried as Sharon needed time to think.
Later, as Sharon confronted her long time friend, she could tell that he was still hiding something and it seemed like he was about to confess as he told her that he had tried to sort things out after Dennis sent the abuse to Bobby.
But as Sharon jumped to the conclusion that he had just been protecting her by not telling her, Ian went along with – and later had the cheek to tell his mum Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) that he was eyeing up a romance with Sharon!
Does this man have no shame? And will he come unstuck as Dotty is painted as a vicious liar?
