Spoilers: Geoff dies after terrifying battle with Yasmeen in CorrieDecember 9, 2020
He’s been abusing Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) for well over a year in Coronation Street but tonight (December 9), Geoff Metcalfe’s (Ian Bartholomew) reign of terror finally came to an end.
In the episode that celebrated 60 years of the longest running soap, Yasmeen had moved in with Alya (Sair Khan) and found herself living in fear once more as she watched Geoff outside from the flat window.
After Geoff let Yasmeen back into No.6, she was immediately haunted by the memories of the night she attacked him.
At Speed Daal, Alya to lock horns with Geoff once more, but Geoff lashed out, leaving Alya lying on the floor.
Knowing time was running out, Geoff tried to call new girlfriend Christine after he suggested they should run away abroad together, but what was ahead was more than enough to put a stop to another woman being controlled and abused by him.
Geoff burst into No.6 and began pouring lighter fluid everywhere, but Yasmeen was quick in her getaway, running upstairs and climbing onto the roof. It didn’t take long for Geoff to follow her, and Alya soon showed up too, where one final dramatic stand-off ensued.
Geoff was hanging onto the roof tiles, and despite Yasmeen defending herself, he still tried to manipulate his wife into saving him. In spite of the hell he’d put her through, Yasmeen tried to save Geoff, but he lost his grip on the roof and fell off — before landing in the garden, and being killed instantly.
In the episode that marked sixty years since Coronation Street’s first ever episode we saw the end of one of Weatherfield’s most manipulative and evil characters ever.
Geoff may be gone, but the impact he’s had on Yasmeen, Tim (Joe Duttine) and their families will stay with them all for an exceptionally long time.
Coronation Street continues Friday December 11 at 7:30pm on ITV.
