During a segment about Mental Health Awareness Month on the show’s ‘Weekend Update’, the comedian jokes that he is ‘relieved’ the wife of singer John Legend ‘is out of our lives.’

AceShowbizPete Davidson has brought Chrissy Teigen‘s name on his latest “Saturday Night Live” sketch. A few weeks since the “Chrissy’s Court” star was hit with cyber-bullying accusations, the comedian could not help but throw shade at her.

The 27-year-old comic dragged the cookbook author on the show’s “Weekend Update” during a segment about Mental Health Awareness Month. “If there’s one good thing about the pandemic, besides getting Chrissy Teigen out of our lives – I’m relieved – it’s that I was actually excited we had to wear masks,” he quipped during the show’s Saturday, May 22, season 46 finale.

Pete’s jokes have since garnered positive feedback. One Twitter user wrote, “#PeteDavidson roasting #chrissyteigen is the best thing I’ve seen on #SNL in years. TRUTH!” Another penned, “on snl pete davidson just goes ‘if there’s one good thing about the pandemic besides getting Chrissy Teigen out of our lives…’ and i scuhreamed.” A third chimed in, “Ooh Snap! Pete Davidson cancelling @chrissyteigen over her past bullying tweets was classic! Dayum Pete ain’t afraid to go there and that’s why we love him.”

While many love the sketch, some others were upset with it. One critic argued, “That was a super s**tty shot Pete Davidson took at Chrissy Teigen rn about the pandemic getting her out of our lives, especially since he occupies the same space of ‘annoying celebrity who got famous for doing the bare minimum.’ ” Someone else added, “nah dont be dissing chrissy teigen like that #snl.”

Pete’s dig came after model Courtney Stodden accused Chrissy of sending her awful messages in the past. Courtney told The Daily Beast, “She wouldn’t just publicly tweet about wanting me to take ‘a dirt nap’ but would privately DM me and tell me to kill myself. Things like, ‘I can’t wait for you to die.’ “

Chrissy herself has issued an apology via Twitter. “Not a lot of people are lucky enough to be held accountable for all their past bulls**t in front of the entire world,” she wrote. “I’m mortified and sad at who I used to be. I was an insecure, attention seeking troll. I am ashamed and completely embarrassed at my behavior.”

“But that is nothing compared to how I made Courtney feel,” the wife of John Legend continued. “I have worked so hard to give you guys joy and be beloved and the feeling of letting you down is nearly unbearable, truly. These were not my only mistakes and surely won’t be my last as hard as I try but god I will try!!”
