'Outlander' Stars Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe and Sophie Skelton Share 3 Season 6 SpoilersJanuary 4, 2021
Just when “Draughtlaner” ended with Outlander Season 5, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic caused another Draughtlander. The cast of Starz’s drama — Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin — are back at work on season 6. Starz has not yet announced a date for the show’s return, but the cast has something to tide fans over.

Balfe, Heughan, Skelton and Rankin recorded a Christmas Day video for Outlander fans. Filmed in the wardrobe room, the cast members showed off some of their historical frontier outfits and shared a few tidbits about what’s to come next season.
Sophie Skelton will bring more 20th century know how to ‘Outlander’ Season 6
Skelton plays Brianna Fraser. Claire (Balfe) returned to her present day in the 1940s to give birth to Brianna. Once Brianna’s present day adoptive father, Frank Randall (Tobia Menzies), died, Claire told Brianna the truth about her biological father, Jamie Fraser (Heughan).
Brianna would join them in 18th century Scotland and later the American colonies, where her modern day suitor, Roger (Ranking) follows her in time. There are now three characters from the future at Fraser’s Ridge, and Skelton said Brianna would employ more of her modern day knowledge in Season 6.
“We’re going to see a lot more this season of the modern Brianna in terms of her inventor cap will be on,” Skelton said.
‘Outlander’ Season 6 will stump Caitriona Balfe’s character
Outlander began when WWII nurse Claire traveled back in time to 18th century Scotland. Just being there changed the course of history, let alone falling in love with Jamie. As a nurse and later a doctor in her present, Claire could also help the people of the 1700s with her knowledge of advanced medicine. Season 6, Balfe said, will challenge even Claire.
“Things are coming to the ranch that will even challenge Claire Fraser’s medical knowledge,” Balfe said.
Jamie and Sam Heughan will meet another character from the books
Tom Christie made his first appearance in the book The Fiery Cross. Heughan said the show will introduce Christie in season 6.
“We have a new character but he’s not so new to Jamie,” Heughan said. “Actually, Tom Christie is one of Jamie’s ancient foes. He comes to Fraser’s Ridge and tries to take a bit of power actually. So there’s a bit of a power play and his daughter becomes a very, very special part of this story.”
Richard Rankin is sorry for the ‘Outlander’ delay
Rankin didn’t have much news about Season 6, but he accepted full responsibility for the latest delay. Of course, he’s kissing.
“Of course, it’s been a long Draughtlander this year and as we all know, that’s been because of my hair,” Rankin said. “So thank you for allowing me the time to grow it out for season 6.”
