There will be tears aplenty for Coronation Street fans next week, as Carla Connor (Alison King) is forced to bid farewell to love of her life Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne).

In spite of how that might sound, however, the moment in question is actually a rather heartwarming one.

Carla receives a phone call from the transplant centre, and they inform her that they have a liver for Peter!

The business woman is overjoyed – that is, until she realises that she cannot actually find Peter.

In spite of her fears, however, Peter is located, and he heads straight to the hospital.

Ahead of the transplant, Peter reveals that he’s going to get his scar from the surgery tattooed – much to the amusement of Carla.

As the doctors and nurses arrive to take Peter away, Carla becomes incredibly emotional – as does Peter.

‘I’m right here, you know,’ she says.

‘I know’ Peter replies, putting his hand on his heart, ‘Always here. Even when you’re not’.

Carla nodded, as she says goodbye to her lover

Will the transplant be successful?

Coronation street airs this scene Monday June 7 at 8:30pm on ITV.
