Netflix's popular psychological thriller You season three is returning on 15 October this year as a chilling new trailer gives fans an insight on what to expect.

You first debuted on the streaming giant on 26 December 2018 and follows the life of Joe Goldberg, who is portrayed by Gossip Girl star Penn Badley, and his obsessions with the women in his life.

In the first instalment of the binge-worth show, we saw Joe fall for Guinevere Beck (Elizabeth Lail), while the second season focused on his relationship with Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti).

The season final saw Joe attempting to settle into life with his pregnant girlfriend Love in a new house after discovering she is also a murderer.

However, not all is as it seems already as a cliffhanger sees Joe appearing to find a new interest in his neighbour.

Now, Netflix has shared a first peek into what to look forward to in the third season of the popular show, which was renewed in January and is set to see Joe and Love become parents to a baby boy.

“People these days will name their kids anything to get attention," we hear Joe's voice narrate as he makes a white cake with blood-red layers.

Joe continues: “Despite your mother’s background and your Glamma’s determination to refer to you as Forty reincarnated, I know better.”

As the baker spreads white frosting on the cake and begins to pipe letters on the front in red, he continues: “A boy is not what we expected and I would be lying if I said the thought of a mini-me was purely exciting and not without… challenges.

“Let’s just say I’m hoping you’ll do as I say and not as I do.

"But for you, I can change, I’ll be a man you look up to. A man you’ll be proud to call Dad”.

He goes on to debate on what he and Love should call their son as he says: “So, what to call you? A name that’s strong but not intimidating. Classic but not basic.

"Literary, of course, because you’ll grow up in a house full of books.
