Natalie Cassidy prompts EastEnders cast to confide mental health

EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy is set to star in a series of social media videos for the soap that will see her talk to her co-stars about mental health.
The actress, known for playing her iconic character Sonia Fowler, is taking part in the BBC’s commitment to giving viewers ‘help and support to build resilience and look after their wellbeing’ throughout the month of May.
EastEnders has filmed social media content which will see Natalie speak with her co-stars about mental health and topical soap storylines.
The BBC One soap has never shied away from highlighting different mental health issues.
Over the years, Jean (Gillian Wright) and Stacey (Lacey Turner) have taken centre stage in various award-winning stories about their bipolar and right now, the show is putting a spotlight on teenage mental health struggles, with Amy (Ellie Dadd) in recovery after self-harming to try and cope with her problems.
Elsewhere on the BBC this month, Busted singer Matt Willis will front a documentary about fighting addiction, The One Show and Countryfile will also discuss mental health, and there will also be more content across Radio, Sounds and iPlayer.
