Nas’ bestie slams Love Island for ‘de-sexualising’ him and calling him a dog

Love Island hunk Nas Majeed’s best friend has come to his defence after the show called him a dog in an official tweet.

The telly show’s official Twitter account posted a clip of Nad jumping on Sophie Piper and Connor Durman in bed to wake them up.

They captioned the tweet: “Actual footage of my dog waking me up at 5am.”

It’s safe to say Nas’ best friend Murad Merali was not pleased.

He replied to the tweet asking: "Comparing my best friend to a Dog, for no reason? What’s going on here? You lot ok?”

He later tweeted: “The desexualisation and objectification of Nas is unsettling to see."

The 23-year-old has struggled to make a romantic connection with any ladies since entering the villa.

The sports science graduate and builder was first paired with Siânnise Fudge before moving on to twin Jess Gale – but both partnerships have become platonic.

A fellow viewer agreed with Murad, writing: "It’s like they just put him in there to tick the diversity card cos the way they’re moving atm doesn’t seem like any girls are coming for him, sad because he’s the nicest guy in there."

Fans and critics have consistently raised questions about the treatment of BAME Islanders on the ITV2 dating competition – calling for them to have more screen time.

Viewers have complained that Nas has essentially faded into the background in recent episodes, and complained that the addition of two new boys in last night’s instalment has scuppered his chances of finding a match altogether.

It comes just a few days after fans hit out at the girls' treatment of Nas.

Viewers tuning into the ITV2 show were not impressed as Shaughna Phillips snapped at Nas for trying to comfort Jess Gale, before Jess herself later appeared to make a dig about his height.

The moments left fans fuming with many calling out their 'rude' comments, while one even branded their behaviour 'disgusting'.

Mirror Online has approached ITV for comment.
