My endometriosis pains were cured by a wizard – it changed my life, says X Factor star Diana Vickers | The Sun

X FACTOR star Diana Vickers' life has been transformed after a spiritual healer cured her agonising stomach and leg pains.

Earlier this year the singer and podcast host, 30, was at her wits end as she waited for exploratory surgery to determine if she had endometriosis – a condition that sees the lining of the womb grow elsewhere in the body, like the ovaries.

Diana, who was nervous about going under general anaesthetic having never had an operation before, had been reduced to a shell of her former self as her illness prompted her to isolate from friends.

But things took an unusual turn when she was reunited with her old friend Antonia Harman, who had previously used her alternative therapy methods to treat Diana's tonsillitis.

The healer was convinced she could help after hearing about Diana's suffering, and after just one 50 minute session over the phone, the singer started to feel her symptoms ease within days.

A follow-up session cleared up her remaining thigh pain completely, and she is now back to her former self.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Diana, who wants to remove the taboo around women's health, said: "In October I was getting bloated and it got worse and worse and worse to the point I was skipping periods or I'd have a period that was super long for like 10 days. That was going on for a few months."

Diana's symptoms escalated in January while she was on a work trip in LA for meetings and to write new material.

She continued: "I just remember the bloating was so bad and the pain was going into my legs, and I couldn't sleep. I passed out once.

"I was at a gig watching one of my favourite DJs and I had to go home because the pain was so severe. It was hot water bottle every night."

Doctors carried out multiple tests and suggested it might be endometriosis.

Around this time spiritual Diana explained her illness to Antonia, who was confident she could help.

"She said I can do a bit of magic on you," explained Diana. "I kid you not, after the first session we did my bloating went down, and I went back to her again because I was still getting leg pain and the leg pain went.

"I went from being totally anti-social, disengaged from my friends, I spent a lot of time in my bedroom falling asleep in the day, crying. I'd noticed a changed in my body, and as a woman you feel shame in that you don't really know what's going on, and it's very confusing. I was struggling.

What is endometriosis?

Endometriosis is a chronic condition which occurs when tissue from the lining of the womb is found outside of the womb – in areas of the body including the ovaries, Fallopian tubes, the abdomen and the bladder.

So what causes the condition that so many women suffers from?

The exact cause of the condition isn't known, but it's thought it could be hereditary or due to environmental factors – namely the presence of dioxins in the environment.

Meanwhile, other experts believe it could be caused by a process called retrograde menstruation, which is when the womb lining flows backwards through the Fallopian tubes into the abdomen, instead of leaving the body as a period.

Endometriosis can sometimes cause damage to the Fallopian tubes or ovaries, leading to fertility problems.

Other complications can include painful ovarian cysts and adhesions – areas of tissue which can fuse organs together.

"I just remember the bloating was so bad and the pain was going into my legs, and I couldn't sleep.

"And then I had my session, and I was going out, my pain was going, I was in control of my body again."

The pair's friendship goes back 10 years when Antonia helped Diana overcome repeated bouts of tonsillitis that were disrupting her singing career.

Following treatment, it was a decade before the condition flared up again, and when it did it was in its mildest form.

Antonia's methods see her tackle stagnated emotions to break down trauma – dissolving them layer by layer.

Diana said: "I was surprised, like how can that be possible, but it happened and I have to just be happy and grateful it has."

The music star is now focused on her musical comedy duo called Ki & D, with the pair taking their show to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, but above all else is just grateful to have her life back.
