MEL C has opened up about the ‘special moment’ her former Spice Girls bandmate Victoria Beckham joined her on stage in the Maldives for a duet.

Mel, 43, had no idea the mum-of-four would take her up on her offer to duet on stage at the exclusive gig but she was overcome with emotion when she did.

In an exclusive interview with heat Magazine, Mel said of their duet: “I was asked to perform at a resort in the Maldives and it was where Victoria was going on holiday.

“I got there a few days before New Year and Victoria and I had a bit of dinner and I was saying to her, ‘I’m doing a Spice Girls song and I expect you to get up.’

“She’s deadpan and very funny, so she was like, ‘Yeah, of course.’

“I thought, ‘There’s no way she’s going to get up.’

“But when it got to the point in the set where I was going to do Two Become One I said to her, ‘It’s your last chance.’

“And the next thing I know she’s up there.”

The moment meant a lot of Mel, who before this had performed on stage with Victoria at the London 2012 Olympics.

During her time in the Maldives, Mel also spent time with Victoria and David’s children, who Mel described as “wonderful”.

After gushing over the fashion designer's daughter Harper, calling her “so much fun,” Mel said she could see Cruz becoming a popstar in the future.

Last December the 11-year-old released his charity single If Every Day Was Christmas and Mel thinks he could make it to the big time if he wanted to follow in his mum’s footsteps.

She continued: “If he wants to be he absolutely could be. He’s got the swagger. He’s just one of those kids.

“He’s musically talented, he plays guitar and he sings brilliantly.”

The mum-of-one also told heat why she wouldn’t be joining the Spice Girls reunion, admitting she kept thinking about their incredible comeback at the Olympics.

She added: “I felt like anything else wouldn’t have been good enough.”
