Meghan Markle's Deal or No Deal 'bimbo' claims dismissed by second 'suitcase girl'October 21, 2022
Meghan Markle’s co-star on Deal or No Deal has said she had a different experience to the Duchess of Sussex on the game show.
The 41-year-old modelled on the NBC game show from 2006 to 2007, while Patricia Kara appeared on screen from 2005 to 2009, where they held up briefcases.
The Suits actor recently reflected on her experience on her podcast Archetypes with Paris Hilton, saying that while she was ‘grateful’ for the opportunity she felt she was ‘treated like a bimbo.’
Eventually quitting Deal or No Deal, Meghan explained: ‘I was so much more than what was being objectified on the stage. I didn’t like feeling forced to be all looks and little substance.’
However, Patricia had a different take on her stint on Deal or No Deal, saying that she ‘never felt’ how Meghan said she did.
Patricia told Inside Edition: ‘Not at all, it’s unfortunate she felt that way because my experience, I never ever felt that way.’
Real Housewives of Atlanta star Claudia Jordan, another former ‘briefcase girl’ previously used her Instagram Story to blast Meghan’s claims.
She wrote: ‘For clarity – yes getting a modeling gig on a game show isn’t necessarily about your intellect, but every show the executive producers picked five models with the most outgoing and fun personalities to place mics on, who they knew would engage with the contestants.
‘And Deal or No Deal never treated us like bimbos. We got so many opportunities because of that show.’
Claudia insisted she ‘enjoyed’ her time on the show and it was a great step up for her showbiz career.
The 49-year-old beauty insisted she wasn’t personally attacking Meghan, who has two children with husband Prince Harry.
She added: ‘Lord knows I’ve been defending this woman in the media for years. And I still will, but I just didn’t want any misunderstanding about the climate and environment on the Deal or No Deal set.’
On her Spotify podcast, Meghan recalled: ‘I was surrounded by smart women on that stage with me, but that wasn’t the focus of why we were there and I would end up leaving with this pit in my stomach.
‘Like I said, I was thankful for the job but not for how it made me feel which was not smart.’
