Medici The Magnificent: Lorenzo’s death ‘sealed’ as family ripped apart in final series

The third season of Medici will see the family ripped apart as Lorenzo (played by Daniel Sharman) seeks revenge for the death of his brother Giuliano (Bradley James) as a result of the Pazzi conspiracy. The latest trailer for the final series shows Lorenzo spiralling out of control and putting those he loves most at risk – could he be killed as a result?

Following immediately on from season two, fans of the Netflix series will see Lorenzo at the peak of his power.

The final series sees Lorenzo as the undisputed leader of Florence, who faced Popes and Kings to become the first man in history to unite economy, culture and politics in one great vision that that put Florence at the very centre of Europe.

However, due to the death of his brother, he is determined to get revenge at any cost distracting him from his mission.

The Medici family will be ripped apart as he pushes them away in his grief.

Lorenzo is certain he is the only one who can avenge his brother and the city.

Furthermore, Lorenzo has lost his faith in the church and as well as getting revenge, he wants to protect the enormous artistic treasure he built.

The final season will show he power of art and beauty as driving forces behind Medici rule.

The series shows the journey of a man who falls many times before he can find himself again.

But it seems he will face a number of hurdles before the family is back at the top of their game.

Sarah Parish returns as Lorenzo’s mother Lucrezia Tornabuoni and can be seen mourning Giuliano.

It seems she also wants those who took Giuliano’s life to pay the price.

However, she could find herself having to take control of the family as Lorenzo spirals.

A bishop warns him: “You only have hate in your heart,” while someone else can be heard saying Lorenzo has “betrayed everything he once stood for”.

He can be seen in several fight scenes and struggling to cope as he’s left tired and weak.

But Lorenzo must find strength as another conspiracy is brewing to take down the Medici family once and for all – will he survive?

Directed by Christian Duguay, Medici: The Magnificent is created by Frank Spotnitz and Nicholas Meyer, with James Dormer as head writer.

The final series is made up of eight 50-minute episodes, which are set to drop on Netflix next month.

Medici is produced by Big Light Productions Ltd and Lux Vide in collaboration with Rai Fiction and Altice Group.

The series was produced by Luca Bernabei and Frank Spotnitz, with Big Light Productions’ Spotnitz and Emily Feller serving as executive producers alongside Luca Bernabei, Matilde Bernabei, Daniele Passani, Richard Madden, Sara Melodia and Luisa Cotta Ramsino.

Medici: The Magnificent drops on Netflix on May 1.
