Love Island's Zara McDermott apologises to ex Sam Thompson after cheating

October 2, 2020

Love Island star Zara McDermott has apologised to her ex-boyfriend Sam Thompson, after revealing she cheated on him while they were together.

The star dated Made In Chelsea star Sam, 27, for 16 months before they split earlier this year.

However, the 23-year-old has now opened up about her ‘huge mistake’.

She wrote on Instagram: ‘Hey everyone, I just wanted to address the recent speculation in the media.

‘A huge mistake I made a year ago has recently come to light and I want to face this head on.

‘I don’t condone being unfaithful and I made a huge mistake at a time in my life where I was hugely selfish and immature. I believe I have learnt so much from my mistake.

‘I want to apologise to Sam for everything I have put him through, for the pain, the embarrassment, the anger and the hurt.

‘All I want to do is make this right and I think the least he deserves is me being honest with myself and all of you. I love you Sam. Forever. X’

Sam hasn’t publicly responded to the apology.

The former couple split last month. However, Made In Chelsea star Alex Mytton has revealed that viewers will see the break-up play out on screen.

Chatting to Metro.co.uk about what we can expect from season 20 of the E4 reality staple, Alex Mytton confirmed there were many ‘big twists and turns’ ahead in their break-up.

‘I mean obviously there’s been quite a few things going on,’ the 29-year-old told us. ‘Sam and Zara have been going through a bit of a hard time which has been quite tough for both of them. It’s all going to unfold on the show.

‘It’s been pretty nuts, I didn’t expect it. But it’s all very early days, and these things kind of have quite big twists and turns, so who knows what will be going down.’

Despite speculation, Alex wasn’t sure on what really went down, but revealed that Sam is ‘doing okay’ after his relationship with the Love Island star came to an end.

‘I’ve spent a bit of time with him recently, he’s actually… he seems okay,’ he said. ‘He’s putting on a brave face.

‘He’s like a matured Sam, which is weird to see. I was expecting to see a little kid having a tantrum but he seems like he’s doing alright, which is great.’
