Lorraine Kelly fans were unimpressed that an ex paratrooper's sweatshirt that promoted charity was blurred from view.

Chris Lewis an ex armed forced member appeared on the show wearing a black hooded jumper that marked his momentous fundraising efforts.

The former military officer chatted to the host about his charity work which involved walking the entire UK coastline to raise funds and awareness for SSAFA.

Sailors, Airmen, and Families Association aims to provide lifelong support to serving men and women of the British armed forces.

However, many became annoyed during the discussion as the poignant message on his jumper had been censored by the ITV production team at some points in the interview.

As the discussion kicked off, his sweatshirt read: "Walking the UK coastline for SSAFA."

But as the talk continued to how he met his girlfriend Kate – who also joined him on the sofa – viewers noticed a decision had been made to blur out the charitable message on his clothing.

Appalled by ITV's decision to cover up the text on his jumper, fans took to Twitter to share their outrage.

One tweet read: "Why are they pixelating his jumper?! Wtf. It’s a charity #Lorraine."

Another person asked: "Why would Lorraine's producers on @itv blur out someone's shirt that read 'walking the UK coastline for SSafa' after he raised money for the armed forces????? #lorraine."

A third wrote: "Absolutely incensed by this. He is walking for SSAFA, the forces charity, not a commercial organisation!!!!!! #Lorraine #gmb.”

While a fourth raged: "#Lorraine should be ashamed covering a charity! Does the armed forces not matter to her??."

Commenting on the matter, a spokesperson for ITV said: "In line with Ofcom rules on undue prominence, we are unable to feature specific logos for the duration of interviews.

"Unfortunately, these guidelines also apply to charities. However, Lorraine and Chris both referenced the charity on air during the interview."

On a more joyful note, Chris' girlfriend Kate did provide viewers with a warm story of how the pair had first met.

Lorraine asked: "How did you meet him Kate?"

She responded: "So I was on my own sort of solo adventure through the Highlands Will Camping and then it was the last night of my trip and I had to make my way down these steps down to the bottom of a cliff and I saw this man."

Chris quipped: "I like to tell a version of when I was fighting a Scottish bear with a salmon."

"It wasn’t quite as heroic as that," joked Kate before continuing: "I just saw this bearded kilted man and he captured my interest and I was immediately intrigued.

"And he was camping and he’d pitched his tent down there."

She added: "So I went down and spoke to you only for about five minutes and then I left and then about 40 minutes later I decided to do a U-turn and come back."

Lorraine said: "There was just something about him?"

"Yeah there was definitely something about him and I felt ‘I’m not done with this man yet, I need to go back and find out more," remarked Kate.

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
