Locke and Key series two is the fantasy drama Netflix subscribers have been waiting for since premiering on the streaming service last year. The first season ended with several major cliffhangers which are to be explored in this new lot of episodes. Since fans last saw the Locke family’s adventures, a new face has been added to the cast.

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Locke and Key.

Who is Brendan Hines?

In September 2020, it was announced actor Brendan Hines would be joining the Locke and Key cast for series two.

He plays Josh Bennett, who is described as a “charismatic history teacher at Matherson Academy”.

While he has the charm, Josh also has a “secret agenda” but what is he up to and how will it involve the Locke family?

Fans may recognise Hines from several other hit shows over the years.

Hines portrayed Superian in the comedy series The Tick on Amazon Prime for three years.

After just two series, the show was cancelled and while creator Ben Edlund had intended to find a new home for it, he couldn’t do so before the actors’ contracts expired and so it came to an end.

Hines is more known for his work in drama though as he has been in The Middle Man, Scandal, Betrayal, Suits and Scorpion.

He also starred as Eli Loker in Fox’s Lie to Me for two years.

His latest work was on the horror movie Shelter in Place which came out last month.

The film saw what happened when a honeymooning couple were stranded at a creepy hotel during a global pandemic.

So it does appear Hines is starting to branch out to work on more darker-themed projects.

Going by how series one of Locke and Key ended, season two will be far more sinister.

In the season one finale, fans discovered it wasn’t really Dodge (played by Laysla De Oliveira) they had thrown into the Black Door but rather their friend Ellie (Sherri Saum).

Dodge had used the identity key to make Ellie appear to be her, unbeknown to the Locke youngsters.

This wasn’t the first time Dodge had used the identity key either as she had been disguising herself as Gabe (Griffin Gluck), Kinsey’s (Emilia Jones) new boyfriend all along.

But what is Dodge planning to do and how is Kinsey going to react when she finds out?

There is plenty more in store after the release of series two as well.

Locke and Key has already been given the green light for a third season to be made.

As series two has just come out, it may not be until late 2022 that the teen fantasy drama returns.

Locke and Key seasons 1 and 2 are available to watch on Netflix.
