Linda's terror as Shirley returns to rapist son Dean in EastEnders

February 14, 2023

Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) is set to have her world turned upside down in EastEnders next week when she discovers that Shirley (Linda Henry) has been in contact with son Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo).

The landlady of the Queen Vic, as viewers know, is already struggling, after childhood sweetheart Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) went missing at sea following a dive from a cliff over the festive period.

Things are set to get even worse for her next week, however, when she receives a photo of Shirley from Carly (Kellie Shirley) – only Shirl isn’t alone. The picture in question sees Shirley in the company of her son, Dean, who raped Linda in 2014.

Devastated, Linda retreats to the hallway of the pub, but Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) follows to find out what’s wrong. Linda shows Kathy the picture, before breaking down in her arms.

Kathy offers the landlady support, and the two bond as they discuss what they’ve been through in the past.

Shirley, as viewers will recall, left the Square late last year, feeling as though there was nothing left for her following the death of sister Tina (Luisa Bradshaw-White) and Mick’s disappearance.

The popular character revealed at the time that she was going to stay with Carly, but the photograph sent to Linda proves that she has actually been in contact with Dean too.

Dean left Linda traumatised when he raped her in 2014. Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), who was dating Dean at the time, worked out what had happened and offered her support, encouraging her to tell Mick.

Together, the couple told the police what had happened, but were devastated when the charges were dropped due to lack of evidence.

After being arrested once more for the attempted rape of Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons), Dean was acquitted, and fled the Square after being paid off by Buster Briggs (Karl Howman).

Seeing the photo of Shirley and Dean together brings back the trauma of what happened, leaving Linda shaken. Will she forgive Shirley for going behind her back and reconnecting with Dean?

The week in question proves to be a life-changing one for a number of Walford’s women, with a lock-in set to take place on the evening in question – and shocking scenes ensue.

But just what will transpire?
