A POPULAR BBC sitcom is returning to screens after more than 30 years away – but there's a twist.

The legendary series will get a one-off special that will bring the iconic characters back together.

Birds Of A Feather: 30 Years Of Laughs will air on Channel 5 on Sat 17 June.

The popular show first aired in October, 1989. Pauline Quirke and Linda Robson played sisters Sharon and Tracey in the sitcom.

Back in 2019, ITV boss Kevin Lygo told the Mirror: "We had success with Birds of a Feather, that was our most successful sitcom in years, but it’s come to a sort of natural end."

The Sun previously revealed the co-stars suffered several backstage barneys before Pauline was "snubbed" from the reunion.

A source close to Linda said the atmosphere on set between Pauline and the cast became more hostile.

“They were basically pulled apart by stunned crew members. Things went rapidly downhill from there."

Linda explained that she and Lesley, who starred as Dorian Green, weren't ready to stop filming despite Pauline's being missing from the show.

Speaking out about her relationship with Pauline previously, Linda shrugged off suggestions they'd stopped speaking.

Linda insisted the only reason Pauline had missed last year’s Christmas special of the show was because she wanted to step away from the limelight.

Addressing the “irreconcilable feud”, she told The Sun: “Take no notice of what you’ve heard about me and Pauline falling out. It’s a load of old codswallop.

He wrote: "Yes folks it's true, after months of speculation, I can finally confirm Benidorm series 10 was the LAST EVER TV SERIES of @BenidormTVshow."
