Joe Sugg's relationship with Dianne Buswell rumbled by his GRAN weeks before confirmationDecember 18, 2018
Doting Phyllis Sugg said she knew vlogger grandson Joe, 27, was "head over heels" for 29-year-old Dianne weeks before they confirmed they were a couple.
She travelled to Blackpool to watch the pair in action on the hit BBC show – and knew right away there was a spark between them.
Phyllis told MailOnline: "I may be 95 but I could see that twinkle in his eye – and the way they looked at each other.
"He brought Dianne over to meet me too and that’s a sign that there is romance in the air.
"She seemed like a lovely girl – I think he might be head over heels."
Her revelation comes a day after Joe and flame-haired Dianne – runners up to Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton – finally went public with their much-discussed romance.
Alongside a touching Instagram post showing the couple looking lovingly into each others' eyes, YouTuber Joe wrote: "I may not have won the glitter ball, but I’ve won something a million times more special.
They had managed to avoid confirming they were an item throughout the competition.
Appearing on This Morning ahead of last Saturday's final, the pair dodged questions concerning their rumoured fling.
When Phillip Schofield quizzed them, Joe smiled: "Here we go! Do you know what, it's so nice, I've met such a good friend in Dianne…"
Leaning forward Phillip said: "And…?" Laughing, Joe replied: "We haven't got time to think of anything like that! We're so busy dancing…"
In another deft pirouette, Joe smiled: "…We're so busy dancing! We haven't got time!"
In another interview the vlogger said of romance rumours: "There’s nothing in it. If we were dating, everyone would see it.
“It would be very visible. I heard the rumours about us snogging in Blackpool. That was interesting to see.
"To be honest we haven’t got time to think about that stuff.
“I’m much more focused on dancing than anything else.”
Their relationship was eventually all but confirmed after Joe and Dianne were spotted spilling out of the raucous Strictly Come Dancing wrap party holding hands on Saturday night.
Asked if former roof thatcher Joe had agreed to appear on Strictly to find love, Phyllis added: "Sometimes these things just happen.
"We will have too wait and see whether he brings her here to meet the family".
