Jameela Jamil slams Chloe Ferry for promoting diet supplementsApril 10, 2019
JAMEELA Jamil has slammed Chloe Ferry for promoting diet supplements.
The Geordie Shore star took to Instagram yesterday to post a picture of herself in a string bikini holding a diet product.
Chloe, 23, wrote: "MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT: We all know that there is a gender pay gap in the UK. Men earn 11.4% more than women. V24 have decided to be very progressive and offer women 11.4% off all orders on their website going forward."
Her post sparked a backlash among some members of the social media community, with one person writing on Twitter: "ATTENTION WOMEN – We are paid less than men so let’s fix it by preying on vulnerable young girls by promoting self image hate & sell dangerous weight loss products which targets those with eating disorders! all better now."
Jameela, 33, retweeted the comment and added: "Oh dear god, the smell of irony and misogyny here is too much to stand…[thumbs down emoji]."
However, Ciaran Greenwood, CEO V24 told The Sun Online: "We are very proud of our progressive campaign with Chloe Ferry.
"We have had a lot of people thanking us for acknowledging the gender pay gap.
"Jameela Jamil is constantly attacking women that promote weight loss supplements but never men. "This is a blatant double standard. Women should be able to do any job that a man can do free from judgement."
It isn't the first time the presenter and model has spoken out against celebrities who promote weight loss products.
Jameela has slammed the Kardashians on a number of occasions over their social media posts.
Last week, she accused them of lining their pockets with "blood and diarrhea" after promoting slimming brands.
She has also urged them to "check their moral compasses" when it comes to their impressionable fans.
She kicked off after Kim and Khloe dismissed critics in a new interview – saying they shouldn't be slammed for promoting laxative teas and diet aids.
Jameela responded: "[What they're saying is] essentially, f*** the young, impressionable people, or those struggling with eating disorders, we want the money.
"I have been given these same opportunities to flog this stuff, and I don't do it, so they don't have to. Thank you, next."
She added: "Their pockets are lined with the blood and diarrhea of teenage girls."
When a mutual fan reasoned that the Kardashians weren't responsible for other people, Jameela sarcastically hit back: "Yeah DUMB teenage girls with eating disorders. Be smarter. This is your fault little girls.
"Shame on YOU, not the grown billionaire adults preying on your insecurity and fear.
"Preying on the patriarchal value that women are only valuable if their aesthetic meets societal standards."
