Hollyoaks' Martine decides to not have cancer treatment in sad scenes

May 14, 2021

Hollyoaks legend Martine Deveraux (Kelle Bryan) has revealed that she’s not having cancer treatment.

The mainstay of the Channel 4 soap was devastated earlier this week when she received the results of her biopsy, and learned that she has breast cancer.

Celeste (Andrea Ali), Toby (Bobby Gordon) and Walter (Trevor A Toussaint) rallied round her to offer her support, but Martine was adamant that no-one else can know about her diagnosis.

The Price Slice manager reiterated such a thing to her nearest and dearest in tonight’s edition (May 14) of the serial drama, making it clear that – no matter what – Felix Westwood (Richard Blackwood) could not find out.

Martine headed to the hospital for a follow-up appointment, where the oncologist explained various treatments that she would need – including six months of chemotherapy and possibly a mastectomy.

The much-loved character struggled to process all the information, as she weighed up her options.

Celeste, Toby and Walter, meanwhile, were eager to hear what Martine was told at the hospital. Martine later filled them in on what she’d found out, but they were ultimately left in shock when she revealed that she doesn’t want treatment.

‘I could go through all of those options, and the cancer could still come back,’ Martine told her family.

‘That’s why I have decided that I’m not having treatment.’

Hollyoaks continues Monday May 17 at 7pm on E4.
