HOLLYOAKS star Jennifer Metcalfe have been praised by fans for her co-parenting skills as she reunited with her ex for their son's birthday.

The Hollyoaks actress, who has played feisty Mercedes McQueen for the past 17 years, is mum to six-year-old son Daye.

The Bradford-born actress split from Daye’s dad, Geordie Shore star Greg Lake, 37, in 2020 after eight years.

She shared a photo of the trio together at Daye's birthday party over the weekend, with the lad wearing his Newcastle United kit.

Jennifer captioned it: "Happy birthday to our gorgeous boy ♥️ here’s to another year of loving u."

Her friends and fans loved seeing the precious moment, and one said: "That’s so nice to have his mam and dad together for his bday, that’s how to parent."

Like an increasing number of women, single Jen says she would not rule out freezing her eggs to have more kids.

Jen says: “I’d absolutely love to have more kids.

"I’d like to have five or six, but the time and person I’m with would have to be right.”

"I’m reaching 40 next year so maybe I will have them frozen.

"Judging by the logistics I really should, because I’d love a massive family.

"Daye always asks me, ‘Mummy, can you have a baby boy or a baby girl?’, and I reply, ‘I don’t know darling, hopefully I can’.

"I’m in no rush to meet a partner to have kids with, so I would consider adoption, or any other ways of having a child."
