HOLBY City fans were left open-mouthed when EastEnders legend Michael Greco made a surprise cameo in the show last night.

The actor, 51 – who played Beppe di Marco in the BBC soap between 1998 and 2002 – took on the role of a man called Antony, who finds out his son Harry needs heart surgery.

The young lad was taken to A&E with a football injury, but doctors found a problem with his heart.

Antony tried to put on a brave face for his son, but was also trying to come to terms with his failed marriage behind closed doors.

Viewers of the hit show were over the moon that Michael was back on their screens

One wrote on Twitter: "Hellooo Michael / Beppe," with a love heart eyes emoji.

A second said: "Nice to see Michael Greco."

A third chimed in: "OMG one of my OG crushes from Eastenders is on Holby. Michael Greco where have you been?"

Michael is most known for playing Giuseppe and Rosa di Marco's son on EastEnders.

The star joined the Square in 1998 as the ex-policeman and left four years later when his alter-ego's mum died.

Since his stint on the BBC soap, Michael has landed himself various roles in TV, film and theatre.

Some include Pickanchoos in Aladdin at Poole's Lighthouse Theatre, the lead role in Naked in London, and most recently a copper in a Casualty.

The TV star has also appeared on Celebrity Love Island and Soapstar Superstar.

Back in November Michael told The Sun that he was being blackmailed by a lookalike hacker – and fears photos of his son have landed in the wrong hands.

Michael had fallen victim to a devious hacker who is posting bizarre snaps of himself on the star's Instagram page.

The EastEnders favourite and girlfriend Helen Harris welcomed adorable Gianluca into the world in July last year.

The little one had to undergo surgery and spent weeks in hospital, but was eventually discharged.
