Holby City fans were left baffled on Tuesday night after the hospital drama was interrupted by bizarre background music.

As a half-naked Josh stalked the hospital corridors after sleeping with Ange, a jaunty comedy tune followed him down the hallways.

And viewers took to social media to air their confusion.

One pleaded with producers to stop, writing: "#HolbyCity please please never use incidental music ever again please."

Another penned: "This bl**dy stupid background music is too much. Come on #HolbyCity get rid of it."

And someone else added: "Totally ridiculous ‘comedy’ music on #HolbyCity there…"

A fourth viewer said: "When and why did #HolbyCity add stupid mood music?"

"What's with the mood music again in Holby? Felt like I was watching Pink Panther," another social media user added.

But others saw the humour in it.

"JOSH I AM SCREAMING IT'S THE MUSIC FOR ME," one fan wrote in all caps.
"THE MUSIC IS SENDING ME," another laughed.
There was even a tense musical interlude as nurse Louis confronted his transphobic grandmother after she suffered a mild stroke.
