GMB’s Alex Beresford reveals shocking racist abuse he received after Laura Tobin replaces him

April 20, 2022

GMB star Alex Beresford has revealed the shocking racist abuse he's received after Laura Tobin replaced him on the show.

The weatherman, 41, shared a racist tweet written by a troll on the social media platform.

It came after the foul-mouthed individual responded to Good Morning Britain's Twitter account uploading a video of Laura, 40, presenting the weather on Wednesday's programme.

Alex, who often provides cover for Laura on the ITV show, replied to the viewer's unrepeatable comment: "‘Andrew’, you’ve made a typo there!"

His fans rushed to show their support, with one writing: "Mate I’m so sorry this s*** is still happening or has ever happened in the first place."

Another added: "This is why I’m 100% in favour of ALL Twitter accounts being verified. If he said this is the street he’d be arrested."

A third told the TV personality: "Alex, I think you are the best thing that’s happened to TV in a very long time. Respect on how you handled this … Keep being you and doing what you do."

Last year Alex told how he was "subjected to relentless racism" on social media in the aftermath of his argument with Piers Morgan.

In March 2021, weatherman Alex, sensationally clashed with Piers, 57, over his comments about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's interview with Oprah Winfrey.

It led presenter Piers to storm off set and it was soon announced that he'd quit the morning talk show.

Writing for The Telegraph, Alex said: "I haven't announced it (like the former Arsenal player Thierry Henry did this week when he publicly quit social media, in response to anonymous racist bullying) but I have been forced to step away from Twitter and Facebook myself, because it was getting too much.

"I am a strong person, but I am not made of steel."
