July 26, 2022

Emmerdale favourite Genesis Walker was brutally murdered by evil Cameron Murray in 2013.

Gennie made her first appearance in the village back in 2008 when she was injured when a car driven by Ross Kirk knocked her off her moped.

She had been on her way to the village to meet her biological father Shadrach Dingle for the first time.

Gennie was married to Nikhil Sharma until her death and the couple had a daughter, Molly Sharma.

Actress Sian Reese-Williams still remains in the public eye following her departure from the ITV soap.

Daily Star has taken a look insider her life away from the cameras on the ninth anniversary of Gennie's heartbreaking death.

Soap exit

Sian, 40, announced her departure from the show in May 2013, deciding that five years is a good time to leave.

Gennie's exit was kept secret until the episode broadcast July 25 2013, where the popular villager was suffocated by bad boy Cameron following a car crash.

Despite Gennie dying in July, she later appeared in a pre-recorded video on the episode broadcast on August 15 2013.

Gennie was mentioned by her adoptive mother Brenda Walker and Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) in January 2019.

Family tragedy

In 2005, Sian's brother Llŷr had an epileptic fit and it was later discovered he had an inoperable brain tumour.

In June 2018, the tumour became high-grade, and Sian decided to run the London Marathon in 2019 for The Brain Tumour Charity.

Llŷr passed away in February 2019 and the soap star confirmed the tragic news with her fans on Twitter at the time.

She penned: "Yesterday we said goodbye to the love of my life, my hero, my best friend. My brother, Llŷr.

"We cried, we laughed, we danced. Oh how we danced. I’m running the London Marathon in his name and for this wonderful charity @BrainTumourOrg."

Sian completed the marathon and shared snaps with her fans proudly holding her medal.

Rival soap role

Last year, Sian confirmed her exit as Jodie Rodgers in BBC soap Holby City.

Viewers watched the character sectioned after her unborn baby passed away as a result of her recent car accident.

Sian confirmed that an episode which aired in February 2021 was her last as Jodie, writing on Twitter: "Thanks, Holby. I had an absolute blast."

Sian appeared in the now axed continuing drama for four months.

The actress' other TV credits include Line of Duty, Silent Witness, Hidden and Hinterland.

Taking risks

In March, Sian penned an essay on the importance of knowing your worth.

She opened up about her career as an actor and taking a risks.

She penned: "it’s virtually impossible to control anything that comes your way.

"So the little things that you can control become precious. Never be afraid to say no to something that doesn’t feel right.

"The world will not end; your agent won’t drop you. In fact, whenever you have said no to something, the two of you have been on exactly the same page, and this has further strengthened your working relationship.

"It’s empowering and liberating, and it makes you feel like a boss. Hold onto those moments, because they’ll be rare."
