Emmerdale fans ‘work out’ character return following Dan Spencer’s exit

Emmerdale: Dan Spencer receives a call from Kerry Wyatt

Emmerdale fans were shocked as one familiar face made their return back to the ITV soap on Thursday night following Dan Spencer’s (played by Liam Fox) exit.

Last month, Dan decided to take matters into his own hands when dealing with his daughter Amelia Spencer’s (played by Daisy Campbell) stalker.

As Lloyd Sawyer (Matt Sutton) grew closer to the 16-year-old, Dan got furious and punched him, which resulted in Lloyd hitting his head heavily on the ground.

Although he was later charged with GBH, the situation took a turn when Lloyd died in hospital from his injuries, meaning Dan’s charge was escalated to manslaughter

On Thursday night, locals gathered to enjoy what would be Dan’s final day of freedom, including a video call with former girlfriend Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton).

The duo had a conversation before he went to trial as Kerry expressed she didn’t believe he had done anything wrong.

Kerry, who was once in a relationship with Dan, decided to leave the village at the end of last year once she discovered Al Chapman’s (Michael Wildman) affair after his death.

It wasn’t long before viewers flocked to Twitter to share their excitement at seeing Kerry back in the ITV soap with many suspecting a return soon.

@_erinz_ commented: “Aw I did always love Kerry and Dan.”

@guyfoxy added: “Is Kerry coming home from her cruise ship.”

During the episode, Dan was sentenced to a total of eight years in prison, leading to an emotional exit with his friends and family.

Speaking to Express.co.uk and other media publications, soap star Liam Fox touched on Dan’s final days in the Emmerdale village.

He said: “When I read the script I thought this was awful. He is kind of taking it all in and realising he is going and is getting support from other people in the village.

“There is some lovely stuff before he goes, he goes in the pub and the Man Club is really supporting him.

“It’s really well written, it’s really nice stuff. It made me cry a few times while reading it.

“It’s really emotional, lovely stuff. I feel very lucky to get that sort of script around that story.”

Emmerdale continues weeknights on ITV from 7:30pm
