EastEnders fans call out baffling Shirley plot hole after brutal armed robbery | The Sun

MONDAY's trip to Walford ended in carnage as one resident's life was left hanging in the balance.

But when the police were called, EastEnders fans noticed a huge blunder as Shirley Carter was questioned holding a weapon.

Shirley Carter (portrayed by Linda Henry) is a force to be reckoned with in Albert Square, never shying away from a fight – especially when it involves protecting and avenging the ones she loves.

After learning about Zack Hudson's cheating, the tough cookie decided to make the Mitchell family pay for her granddaughter Nancy's pain and trashed new wine bar Peggy's, previously known as local nightclub Ruby's.

In doing so, Shirley found herself facing thugs who had come to wreak more havoc than she had intended.

Hiding in the safe and hearing footsteps as Sam Mitchell was leading them there, Shirley armed herself with a baseball, trying to keep her cool and ready for the fight of her life.

Shirley was eventually saved from a sad demise after a gunshot was fired, leaving one life in danger.

But when the police arrived, BBC One viewers were more concerned by the fact Shirley was still holding on to her bat, even whilst she was questioned about the shooting.

She walked away, back to The Queen Vic, with the weapon she'd used to strike one of the thugs on her shoulder, amusing soap fans on Twitter.

"Shirley walking off back to the Vic with her trusty baseball bat… As if the police would let that happen in real life", one viewer penned.

Another added: "The way Shirley is holding that bat. Iconic", while a third jumped in: "The way Shirley gave a police statement and still had the baseball bat in her hand."

"That cop’s easily pleased. Not bothering to ask about a description or anything? He must not be being paid to talk", a fourth viewer quipped.

A fifth fan wrote: "Shirley ready with her beloved baseball bat", while one final viewer added: "I love how the police turn a blind eye to Shirley walking around with a baseball bat … totally normal behaviour … lol."

Shirley may have only been present in Peggy's to get revenge, she was still part of the drama that took place between Kat Slater, Sam Mitchell and Sharon Watts.
