Dua Lipa eyes move into acting as she's forced to put Future Nostalgia tour on ice

June 28, 2021

WITH 11 Top Ten hits under her belt, multiple awards and almost ten billion streams on Spotify, Dua Lipa is dominating the music business.

And now the Levitating singer is considering a move into acting after she started honing her skills on the set of the video for her new song Love Again.

Dua is seen working her magic dressed up as a cowgirl, and getting into character has given the pop star a taste of what it might be like on the big screen.

Asked about trying out for a film role, Dua said: “I would really like to. It is something I’m definitely up for exploring and figuring it out, maybe with a small role first.

“I’ve become a bit more confident in myself.

“I’ve done a little bit here and there, so I feel I’ve discovered the side of acting within music videos.

“I am quite intrigued and excited about the prospect of doing something else at some point.”

Fans may see Dua on the big screen sooner than in the flesh, after she was forced to put her Future Nostalgia European tour on ice.

Dua announced today she wasn’t able to go ahead with the dates in the diary for this autumn.

She said: “I’m utterly heartbroken that we’re not able to proceed with my UK and European tour this September and October.

“I can’t wait to be back on stage and reunited with you.”

Dua will now take the record on tour next year, kicking off in Manchester on April 14.

She will play 12 dates across the UK, ending with two nights at London’s O2 Arena on May 2 and 3.

Plenty of time for a chat with some film bosses then, Dua . . .

Not a bad Habit: Ed's 25 songs per week

ED SHEERAN took 18 months off music to see the world and be a stay-at-home dad to his baby daughter Lyra.

But it wasn’t all nappies and airports during his time away as the superstar has revealed he has completed two albums during his hiatus.

Ed, whose comeback single Bad Habits is on course to be No1 on Friday, said: “I have done two albums and have written like 250 songs. In that, about 50 ballads.

“I write about 25 songs a week and one of them will be all right and that will go on the ‘maybe’ list.”

Ed, inset, wasn’t working alone, as insiders told me he had teamed up with Sir Elton John for some writing sessions.

A source said: “Ed and Elton put their heads together and got some new tracks written together. They’re really good pals and it was great they could connect and work on new music together.

“The songs they wrote are great and they have a very special place in Ed’s heart.”

Ed will release his fifth album, which is believed to be called Subtract, in the autumn. I exclusively revealed how Kylie Minogue had collaborated with Ed on the record.

She gave her vocals to the song Visiting Hours, which Ed created for the memorial of their mutual friend, late music mogul Michael Gudinski.

Given the wealth of goodies on this album, something tells me Ed might be saving his Elton songs for record number six.

Elevator can take rapper Gashi to top

RISING star Gashi is about to go global with his new album Elevators – and his achievement is all the more remarkable given his start in life.

The Libyan-born performer and his Albanian parents were refugees living in Africa and Europe before they settled in New York when he was ten.

Discovered by Kanye West and signed by Jay Z, Gashi has already collaborated with musicians including Sting and French Montana.

In an exclusive chat to mark the release of his new track Don’t Pass On Love, out today, the rapper and singer said: “Wherever I was in the world, Africa, Europe or America, it was music that got me out of feeling like a homeless child.

“When I was in New York living in a shelter, I would plug in my Walkman, put on Frank Sinatra and walk the richest neighbourhoods in Manhattan. It was the escape from the s**t life I had. The luxury of the music, Nina Simone, all these artists made me feel like I levelled up.

“Me falling in love with music, playing guitar and falling in love with anything that has to do with my escape.

“I would pretend I was at a show, as soon as I turned it off I f***ing hated my life. I wanted to die. I want my music to give that escapism to kids.” As well as Don’t Pass On Love, which will be on his album coming out later this year, Gashi also teamed up on a track called London with British rapper GIGGS.

I got an exclusive first listen to it and I can confirm it’s going to be a smash hit. But compared to summer anthem Don’t Pass On Love, the track could not be more different – and Gashi explained that was the key to his artistry.

He explained: “I am a walking Shazam, I know every song you play, I love every artist. I love all kinds of music.

“I could make rock, country, pop, whatever you want. I am a genre-bending artist. London is going to be a massive song. I love it, but I also do ballads.

“This is the era of no genre, which is perfect for artists like me. This is the era of people choosing what they want.

“I love living in the past. I should have been born in the early Eighties so I have a chance to do the Nineties thing and go wild.

“Last night, when I was performing, people were too afraid to have a good time. People are just living for other people. They are too afraid to be them- selves.

“It is so messed up. You only have one life. Why not live it to the fullest?”

Cardi b-aby beats Meg

MEGAN Thee Stallion probably thought she’d stolen the show at the BET Awards before being upstaged by her WAP collaborator Cardi B.

Megan rocked up in this X-rated Jean Paul Gaultier-designed Grecian-style ivory gown, all held in place with gem-encrusted ties.

But Cardi B announced she was pregnant with her second child with Offset in dramatic style – showing off her bump in a jewel-encrusted bodysuit.

She picked up gongs for Best Video and Best Collaboration for WAP, while Megan sent the crowd at LA’s Microsoft Theatre wild with new song Thot S**t.

Mollie’s french fancy

FANS of Mollie King might be saying “au revoir” to the radio host if she gets her way house-hunting with boyfriend Stuart Broad.

Mollie’s Radio 1 co-host Matt Edmonson revealed she fancies Paris after the England cricketer sold his Notts home to move in with her.

On today's breakfast show, standing in for Greg James, Matt said: “Can I tell people your mad Paris idea? Mollie’s fella has sold his house.

“She said, ‘Where are we going to live? I’m looking at Paris’. It’s ridiculous. You work here and he plays cricket in Nottingham.”

Laughing, Mollie said: “Poor Stuart, it is a bit mad. For an hour or so it was great in my mind.

“I then remembered that can’t happen, so I went back to looking for places around here.”

Rita's splash track

RITA ORA made a splash ahead of the release of new track You For Me with Sigala.

She danced in the waves wearing a black bikini and a sheer cover-up as she filmed scenes for the music video in Malibu.

Rita also rocked a long lumberjack shirt on the shoot – and it looks like she may have forgotten to put her shorts on underneath it.

I exclusively revealed this month how Rita had started making the video with Sigala.

Part of it was filmed at a rooftop pool in LA with synchronised swimmers – and after checking out their breast strokes, it seems Rita was keen to get in the water herself.

She is the best thing I’ve ever seen that has washed up on a beach. I can’t wait to see the end result.
