Denzel in danger and Denise’s secret revealed tonight in EastEndersApril 7, 2023
A life hangs in the balance in the EastEnders episode which airs on Tuesday April 4, following the car accident that saw Kim Fox (Tameka Empson)’s car, with Denzel Danes (Jaden Ladega) in the passenger seat, crash into the Argee Bhajee.
Kim was celebrating her win as ‘Influencer of the Moment’ by taking Denzel for a spin, but she was distracted when a message popped up on Denise (Diane Parish)’s phone – which Kim had in the car – from Ravi (Aaron Thiara) that made it very plain that Denise had been up to something with Ravi. A gobsmacked Kim was forced to swerve and the car hit the restaurant wall with some impact.
In the immediate aftermath of the crash Kim wakes up from being temporarily knocked unconscious to see that Denzel’s injuries are far more serious. Meanwhile Mitch (Roger Griffiths) has called the emergency services and soon the sound of sirens fills Albert Square. It’s not long before Kim is freed from the wreckage, but Denzel remains trapped in the car – and it’s not looking good.
As Denise joins Kim at the hospital where she’s been taken to be checked over, Kim reveals to her sister that the cause of the crash was seeing Ravi’s messages. Denise knows that she’s going to have to come clean to Kim about what’s been going on with Ravi – but the immediate worry is Denzel. As the outcome for him remains uncertain, Kim and Denise join Amy (Ellie Dadd) and Jack (Scott Maslen) in trying to comfort Denzel’s distraught dad Howie (Delroy Atkinson).
Another father who’s having a tricky time is Ravi, who is furious about Nugget (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury) taking baby Jordan to Denzel’s party. He attempts to discipline him – only to have Nugget turn his words back on him and criticise his parenting. The situation gets out of control and Ravi lashes out, as Aaron Thiara told us:
‘He can’t believe his son has behaved in this way. He also can’t believe that all of those connections that he’s just built up with Chelsea (Zaraah Abrahams) have been undone because she trusted Ravi when he said that Nugget was a good kid and would be able to look after Jordan. In that moment he loses control of all of the elements and within that he loses control of himself through the argument he has with his son.’
Nugget is terrified by his father’s explosive reaction and he rushes to Suki (Balvinder Sopal) and Nish (Navin Chowdhry) and tells them all about Ravi’s actions. Will grandad Nish get involved in Ravi’s parenting choices?
Elsewhere there’s dating chaos for Freddie (Bobby Brazier) as he attempts to juggle two dates on the same evening and fails miserably, leading Jean (Gillian Wright) to question his intelligence – a remark that leads to huge upset for Freddie, whose response leads to what Bobby Brazier described as his first crying scene:
‘I was filming with Freddie’s Nanny Jean and we were sat on the sofa afterwards, and it took us a minute to shake off the tears and sadness,’ he revealed. ‘It’s interesting as I’ve mainly been doing comedy, but soon we’re going to see some emotion from Freddie.’
EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
