PD JAMES' best-selling Inspector Dalgliesh Mysteries are being brought to life on Channel 5.
But some viewers may wonder where the new series Dalgliesh was actually filmed.
Where is Dalgliesh set?
The series is set in mid-1970s England and follows Inspector Adam Dalgliesh, a detective and widower, as he strives to solve unusual murders.
Filming was initially set to start in December 2020 but was delayed due to the pandemic and will consist of three two-part films.
Each part follows the stories of three of PD James’s books.
According to Channel 5’s synopsis of the drama, the series "follows Dalgliesh’s career to present day as he solves unusual murders and reveals buried secrets”.
Where was Dalgliesh filmed?
Despite being set in England the series was entirely filmed in Belfast.
The streets around the old Belfast Telegraph building were transformed into a film set back in June 2021.
This substantial park is located in the town of Ballyclare in Northern Ireland.
A Caravan Park is available for any member of the public wishing to stay closer to the park and is open between April 30, 2021, and October 1, 2021.
The Park site also features a Duck Pond Observation Deck for any nature enthusiast to enjoy.
Dalgliesh filming crews and actors were spotted in Union Street, in Belfast city centre.
In June, 2021, it was reported that the street had been completely transformed into what looked like a 1970's market for the purpose of the Channel 5 series.
The Irish News building situated on Donegall Street, in Belfast, was also chosen for the filming of Dalgliesh.
The Edwardian building was turned into a 1970's train station for the detective drama.
On June 2, 2021, Irish News reported that the location had been at the core of an outdoor shoot.
What happens in Dalgliesh?
