Corrie's Jane Danson shares love as soap star husband returns to Emmerdale

Coronation Street’s Jane Danson has shared her happiness over the news that her husband Robert Beck is returning to Emmerdale.

Robert is best known for playing Gavin Ferris, Bernice’s (Samantha Giles) ex, back in 1999.

However, while Robert is back in the Dales, he won’t be playing his original role of Gavin.

The actor will portray a character called Harry, a dangerous gangster who is an acquaintance of Corey, who goes into business with Cain Dingle in scenes set to air this week.

Nate (Jurell Carter), who is desperate for money, recognises Corey from school and ends up asking him for a job.

As things get underway, Nate then discovers Caleb (William Ash) is a silent investor within the business plan. He tells Nate that he can have work if he stays silent about his involvement, prompting the arrival of troublesome Harry.

On his new role, Robert Beck said: ‘I’m thrilled to be working on Emmerdale again, it’s a great show that I have followed for years, with a fabulous cast. It has always had a special place in my heart.

‘I had a fantastic time working on the show playing Gavin Ferris, 24 years ago. The cast and crew were so welcoming and of course, I met my wife because of that job so I have much to thank Emmerdale for!

‘I’m looking forward to getting involved and to working with such a great bunch again.’

Ahead of Robert’s return, his partner Jane – who plays Leanne Battersby in Corrie – has shared a sweet message on her Instagram to congratulate him.

‘Happy birthday my love @robertbeck529’, she wrote. ‘And congratulations on your @emmerdale return – i owe Emmerdale a lot -24 years of us – i love you darling.’

Jane and Robert initially met at the first-ever British Soap Awards in 1999, getting married at the Gibbon Bridge Hotel in Lancashire in December 2005.

The couple have two sons – Harry, 21, and 14-year-old Sam.

Robert is also known for playing roles in Coronation Street, Brookside and most recently Hollyoaks, where his character – Fergus Collins – died after being murdered by Trish Minniver (Denise Welch).
