Coronation Street viewers are seriously concerned for Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley) and fearing the worst – that he will die – after he hallucinated his dead son.

Johnny has been seeing things in prison, such as mice and cockroaches, but he realised something was wrong when he saw his late son Aidan, who took his own life back in 2018.

During the first of Wednesday's episodes, Carl Connor (Alison King) visited her dad and he confessed that something was wrong.

And now Corrie fans have said how upset they are by the storyline, with some convinced that it could be leading to Johnny's death.

One said: "Looks like the beginning of the end for poor Johnny."

Another said: "Johnny is breaking my heart."

A third wrote: "It's breaking me seeing Johnny like this."

Someone else tweeted: "This storyline is breaking my heart with Johnny."

And a fifth added: "Poor Johnny's gone right downhill he needs to be in hospital bless him."

Johnny told Carla: "At first I thought maybe this is what prison's like – mice and cockroaches, part and parcel of the whole thing."

He went on: "I'm not sure of anything. The bugs and rodents, maybe they're not here."

Johnny explained that nobody else had seen the things he had, with him adding: "Maybe it's the MS or just old age, but I don't trust my own head any more.

"I don't think they're real, it's just my mind or whatever. It's making me see all sorts."

He told her: "Stuff I know's not there, it can't be. The point is, maybe, I don't know, maybe I'm losing my marbles and I don't know how to stop it."

Johnny admitted: "I thought everything I was seeing, I thought it was real until I saw something I knew was impossible…

"Just the back of his head, one of his grey suits you could never get him out of.

"I used to say, 'Mix it up, go for the dark blue,' but he loved his grey – and the cufflinks, silver bumble bee cufflinks that he loved."

He told her: "It was your brother. I saw Aidan."

Will Johnny be alright?

Or could he soon deteriorate and slip off the deep end with his health?
