Coronation Street youngster Max (played by Paddy Beaver), has fallen into the wrong crowd after being taken in by Griff Reynolds (Michael Condron). Griff has been on a warpath against the residents of Weatherfield and turned Max against his friends and some of his family. Official spoilers reveal that Max strays further away from his family, threatening to move in with Griff, but could David step in and potentially put his life at risk?

In upcoming scenes, Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls), Gail Platt (Helen Worth), Nick Tilsley (Ben Price), David Platt (Jack P Shepherd), Shona Platt (Julia Goulding), Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson), Max, Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) and Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) sit down to Christmas lunch in the bistro.

Excitedly, Max unwraps his present and is thrilled to find a state-of-the-art editing package and thanks his parents endlessly for their generosity.

However, the afternoon soon turns sour when David makes a joke about Griff, with Max leaping to his defence and in turn storms out.

Shona has a go at David for making comments towards his son, with David soon regretting his remarks.

Later when David spots Griff being pally with Max at the Christmas market, David loses his temper and tries to drag Max away.

However, Max turns on his father and admits that he hates him, soon announcing that he will be moving in with Griff.

David is left reeling and wondering how he is going to be able to save his son from the hands of Griff’s hate-fuelled campaign.

After getting back to Griff’s, Max is happy to help when he’s asked to update some of their videos for their latest message.

Toyah warns David that Griff is a dangerous man and he needs to get Max out of his grasp leaving David shaken.

Will David be able to get Max away from Griff in time?

Griff has been on a mission since his very first moments in Weatherfield and chose Max as an easy target due to his age and vulnerability.

Now everyone knows what Griff is really up to, David is determined to get his son away from him.

However, Griff is a dangerous man and if he feels that David is standing in his way, there will be no hesitation to do what he needs to get David out of the picture.

Is David’s life in danger?

During Monday night’s episode, Griff invited Max on a camping trip with the rest of the group and sold the experience as a fun time with the guys.

David walked in to find Max packing his backpack and asking if they had any spare torches laying around the house.

David exclaimed: “I thought I made myself clear, you’re not going camping with Griff and his little low-life mates.”

Max laughed at David exerting his authority and snapped back: “Come on David, we both know you can’t stop me.”

Determined, David replied: “Max, I am only looking out for you!” however, Max was having none of it: “You’re lying. I bet you want me to go, no one wants me around here anyway.

“You only put up with me because you have to, you inherited me, like a piece of furniture, I am a pain in your backside, you always say it. I have found my tribe now.

“The people I am supposed to be with,” he added before he walked away from the conversation.

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
