Coronation Street viewers fear Roy Cropper in danger as ITV release new trailer

Coronation Street fans are terrified that soap icon Roy Cropper – played by David Neilson – could be in danger as super soap week approaches.

October's Horror-Nation Street event has promised that at least one fan-favourite character is set to be killed off, with ITV releasing teaser trailers in the build-up.

Each of the trailers warn the characters to "Watch Your Back" – and in the latest, Roy can be seen standing in what looks to be a dimly lit haunted house, complete with neon paint on the walls behind him.

Behind him on the wall, the words: "In the circus, no-one hears you scream" can be seen in eerie glowing green paint.

The camera slowly pans around Roy's face, shrouded in shadow but definitely looking worried.

Roy has played a big role in recent storylines, taking care of his niece Nina Lucas after her boyfriend Seb Franklin was brutally murdered at the hands of Corey Brent's gang.

And with Nina hell-bent on revenge for Seb's death, could Roy be caught in the crossfire?

Fans certainly think so, as one commented on the newest clip: "I swear if you hurt my beloved Roy!"

Someone else said: "No, this is just too far now. If anything happens to Roy then I’m done."

"I have been watching this amazing show for about 25 years now (since I was about 8) but I swear, if they kill Roy, I will stop watching!" another fan threatened.

While a fourth added: "Taking it too far now Corrie, leave Roy out of this!"

And another social media user posted: "Pray for Roy Cropper!"

However, someone else pointed out that the trailer could simply be a red herring, as they wrote: "A fishing fleet of red herrings!"

Someone else seemed to agree, warning: "Why do you all think these promos IMMEDIATELY mean they’re going to harm/kill off the character? They’re just cycling through the main characters and doing some Halloween themed promo. Chill."

Other trailers posted to the Coronation Street official Instagram page include similar clips with Asha, Kevin, Aadi, Dev and Abi – so it looks like all of the characters could be in danger.

It comes as producer Iain MacLeod told Daily Star of super soap week: "It's got loads of twists in it. It’s got some stuff in there which I think you’ll never see coming – which is, for my money, always the best thing in a soap or in any drama.

"Stuff that makes you go, 'What have they just done?' – and there’s lots of that in there."
