Coronation Street star to return after three-year absence as family falls apartAugust 6, 2023
Coronation Street: Lucy Fallon on Bethany Platt’s storyline
Bethany Platt (played by Lucy Fallon) hasn’t been seen in Coronation Street for three years but it has been reported she will be making a comeback to the ITV soap.
The Platt family in Coronation Street continue to be a cobbles staple and with Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) at the centre of a big drama at the moment and killer Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) still uncaught, there are sure to be some major plotlines hitting the family soon.
It’s been reported Lucy will be reprising her role as Sarah’s daughter, who left to start a new life in London.
A source told The Sun: “Lucy is one of soap’s most talented actresses who won lots of awards for her powerful portrayal of Bethany’s grooming storyline.
“She was destined for big things and everyone was sad to see her go but the door was always going to be left open for someone of her calibre and popularity.

“Bosses reached out to her a few weeks ago about the possibility of coming back, and told her everything they’d planned for Bethany if she agreed.”
They went on to add “everyone is excited” for the 27-year-old to return, with her first scenes apparently set to air “after Christmas”.
Express.co.uk has reached out to ITV for comment on the reports.
Long-term fans will remember Bethany’s debut as her birth was a huge storyline for teen mother Sarah in 2000.

Lucy took on the role from 2015 before making her exit five years later.
At the moment, the Platt family is contending with a number of dramas.
Sarah and husband Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) have been on the rocks since he found out he was in fact not the father of her baby.
Tragically, Sarah then lost her unborn baby.

Additionally, the family matriarch Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) has no idea her son Stephen is a serial killer.
Since arriving back from his life in Canada last year, the secret villain has gone on to murder three people.
In his attempts to swindle the Weatherfield locals out of their money, he will stop at nothing but the sneaky character has so far remained under the radar, with nobody suspecting him as a killer.
Sarah has been working closely with her uncle and it seems he would even be willing to destroy her as part of his schemes.
Bethany’s return might signal the start of Stephen finally being rumbled, especially as she’s making her return around Christmas, a famously dramatic time in soap world.
Coronation Street continues on Monday at 8pm on ITV.
