Cheer on Netflix: Who is in the cast of Cheer?

The cheerleaders of Navarro College are central to this new  Netflix series. The show follows the team, their assistant coaches and head coach as they prepare for the national competition. The TV show is mostly real life but there will be some scripted scenes.

Who is in the cast of Cheer?

Monica Aldama

Monica Aldana is the head coach of the Navarro competitive cheerleading team.

She has worked her way up to a professional level having won 14 national championships.

Cheer is not her only talent as she also has a business degree.

Originally wanting to work on the famous Wall Street, she decided to settle down with a family and has been coaching for 24 years.

Gabi Butler

Gabi became the face of cheerleading at an early age and is considered someone not to mess with.

She uses social media to show fans how she trains and has travelled the country competing.

Throughout the show she faces a number of trials not only in cheerleading, but also studying, modelling and dealing with unwanted attention.

She has one million followers on her Instagram account so her popularity shows.

Morgan Simianer

Morgan, a flyer on the team, is underestimated at the college.

She is described by coach Monica as looking the part but not necessarily having the same level of skill.

But Morgan has her chance to shine when one of the other top girls is injured.

She steps up to the plate to prove to the other squad members she has what it takes.

There are in fact about 38 cheerleaders on the team At Navarro College.

But usually only 20 of those get given the chance to compete.

This docuseries focuses on only a small number of the team’s members.

Other members focussed on include Lexi Brumback, La’Darius Marshall and Jerry Harris.

Each episode of the show is an hour long and explores the pressures the cheerleaders face in their training.

The episodes also explore how they cope with other aspects of school life, from work to friendships.

A second series of the show has not yet been confirmed but it is not being ruled out.
