Charlie Cox Breaks Silence On ‘Daredevil’ Cancellation – “I’m Very Saddened”

Charlie Cox has finally spoken out on Netflix’s surprise cancellation of Daredevil.

Cox tells EW he was caught off guard by the show’s abrupt end. “A lot of us really expected to keep going, and I certainly did,” he tells EW. “The truth is, I felt like we had a lot of stories to tell, and although I understand [the cancellation], I’m very saddened by that.

He calls his portrayal of blind superhero Matt Murdock his “dream job.” Cox said it’s strange to think he would never play the character again. He wouldn’t speculate on any potential arcs beyond the Season 3 finale, but would he be up for playing the character again? “Oh my God, yeah,” he says. “I don’t know how this would happen, but maybe one day we could pick up the baton and do it again.”

The cancellation of Daredevil came on the heels of Netflix’s cancellations of Iron Fist and Luke Cage. That leaves only two Marvel series on Netflix, Jessica Jones and The Punisher.
