Celebrity Bake Off 'sets sights on signing David Beckham after he impresses with home cooking'August 30, 2020
CELEBRITY Bake Off have "set their sights on signing David Beckham after he impressed them with his home cooking".
The ex England legend, 45, has spent most of lockdown baking and cooking for his famous family.
But these displays of baking prowess haven't gone unnoticed as Talk TV have reportedly got in touch with his reps.
They want him to take part in the Great British Bake Off's celebrity spin-off, which raises money for Stand Up to Cancer.
"Signing David Beckham for the show really would be the icing on the cake," a source told The Mirror.
"Everyone's very excited about the prospect of him taking part. He was the name that a lot of the casting team had on their list at the very start of the meeting because of his love of cooking – especially baking – during lockdown.
"It's for charity too, so they're really hoping he can do it."
David has mastered his recipes – and his mum's old ones – while travelling the world as a footballer.
He took Italian cookery classes while on loan to AC Milan in 2010 and French cuisine classes at Paris Saint-Germain in 2013.
Filming has already wrapped on the latest series of the show, which features Paul Hollywood, 54, and Prue Leith, 80, as judges.
Matt Lucas and Noel Fielding take the reigns as the presenters.
Despite fears the show would be cancelled due to the pandemic, Paul Hollywood has been given the clear to use his trademark handshakes, The Sun exclusively revealed.
Producers of the Channel 4 show have told Paul, 54, he can press the flesh as cast and crew have been in an isolation bubble and are having regular Covid-19 testing.
A show source said: “In these strange times, producers want the 2020 series to be as close to normal as possible and they feel that it wouldn’t be the same without a Hollywood handshake.
“The judges and hosts — and the contestants — have all been deemed clear because of the bio-secure bubble and regular testing.
“So if the baking is up to scratch, we’ll see some handshakes, and not elbow bumps, being dished out before long.”
Paul’s handshakes for bakers who have met his lofty standards have become a fixture on the former BBC show.
