All hope lost for Liv as she turns her back on Aaron in Emmerdale?

May 14, 2021

Emmerdale’s Liv Flaherty (Isobel Steele) appears to have reached the point of no return, having chosen the bottle over her own brother.

Beleaguered Liv has been wrestling with her guilt ever since she abandoned villainous Paul Ashdale to die in the village’s wedding barn.

In recent weeks, viewers have seen Liv secretly drowning her sorrows, but a confession to boyfriend Vinny (Bradley Johnson) backfired when this unburdening led to their relationship breaking down.

When Liv’s sibling Aaron (Danny Miller) found out what had happened, he headed round to Mill Cottage with the aim of putting a stop to her drinking, only to be met with resistance.

And when Aaron asked Liv to open up to him, all she could do was talk about her actions regarding Paul.

‘I left him to die in pain,’ she admitted. ‘And I can’t stop seeing his face. He may have been a useless piece of rubbish, but he was Vinny’s dad. And you made me tell him. And now he’s dumped me.’

Aaron then accused her of attempting to blot out her recrimination with alcohol, with Liv replying that she no longer wanted to listen to what he had to say. ‘I don’t care about anything,’ she said resignedly. ‘Just leave me alone.’

Next week’s episodes of Emmerdale will see an already fraught situation become even more desperate when Liv runs out of alcohol and seeks a fresh supply at the Woolpack, where she hooks up with a sleazy stranger by the name of Max.

But when Aaron intervenes, Liv gives him short shrift and ends up drinking by herself in a state of increasing despair.

The next day, Liv wakes and surveys the previous evening’s wreckage, only to then go into a toxic seizure. Aaron, meanwhile, has spent a sleepless night at the Woolpack, and following a conversation with Chas (Lucy Pargeter), she decides to step up and ease her son’s burden.

Pretty soon, Liv finds Chas entering her home, locking the doors and confiscating her phone. Her aim is to put Liv under house arrest until such time as she sobers up. But will this shock tactic pay off or merely make Liv more determined to rebel?

Emmerdale continues on Monday May 17 on ITV at 7pm.
