December 18, 2018

Alan Jones, Kyle and Jackie O, Ray Hadley and Smooth FM have finished 2018 with a bang.

Jones – who has dominated the competitive breakfast timeslot on 2GB in Sydney for years – continued his unbeaten run with a 16.5 point audience share for the final radio ratings survey of 2018, according to data released by GFK.

In the surveyed drive timeslot (4pm-7pm weekdays) Nova's Kate, Tim and Marty are the clear winners with a 12.6 point audience share, nearly 3 points ahead of ABC Sydney and 3.4 points ahead of nearest commercial rival, sister station Smooth FM.

Despite a small drop in listeners 2GB is, once again, Sydney's most listened-to station with a 13.9 point share of listeners over 10 years old across the week.

Smooth FM, the easy-listening station that boasts shows hosted by the likes of Melissa Doyle, Cameron Daddo, Richard Wilkins and David Campbell, topped the FM stations for the second survey in a row with an audience share of 9.1 points.

Smooth FM is the most listened to FM station in Sydney.

Despite large leaps and drops in individual timeslots, the overall audience stayed broadly the same to end the year with none of the major stations moving by more than a point.

The Australian radio industry now takes a break over summer before major shows return in January ahead of the next survey period.

Nine, which owns The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald, is the majority owner of Macquarie Media, the broadcaster of 2GB.
