A Place in the Sun couple slam host’s ‘disappointing’ half-finished property

A Place in the Sun’s Laura Whitmore was recently tasked with finding a forever home with character in Greece for a tight budget of just £80,000.

In today’s episode (May 11) of the Channel 4 show, the glam property expert was taking guests Kathryn and Mark around the main island's Kassandra Peninsula.

The modest budget meant Laura had a tough time finding a property large enough for the couple and their new puppy, Dixie, who would enjoy a garden to run around.

Kathryn and Mark also wanted a minimum of two bedrooms and be within walking distance to the sea so they could go snorkeling.

The first property Laura showed them, a one-bedroom apartment in the village of Pallini, was deemed far too small for their needs.

It was on the market for just £85,585 but had a minuscule kitchen and the only outside space was a cramped balcony.

The second property, a two-bedroom apartment in Kriopigi village, was on the market for just £71,171, and yet it had a generous two bedrooms.

It seemed to tick a lot of Kathryn and Mark’s boxes and they said it was a contender.

Laura seemed to be gaining confidence in her search, but it was shattered when she showed them property number four.

The two-bedroom detached house, valued at £97,297, had a grassy front garden and a patio at the back as well as an open-plan living and kitchen area.

Laura said: "The agents have told me they are open to offers within Mark and Kathryn's wiggle room – I can't wait to see what they think of it!"

Kathryn and Mark didn't look at all happy though and couldn't hide the horror from their faces as they look around the half-finished interior which clearly needs a lot of work.

Meeting back up with them in the garden after the couple took a look around, Laura seemed quite taken aback.

"Ooh I'm not sure what to make of that face, Kathryn!" she joked.

Kathryn said: "No… It looked so promising from the outside but there is so much to be done in there."

Mark backed her up and said: "It looked lovely from outside but was disappointing inside."

The couple did make an offer of £75,000 on property number five – a two-bedroom townhouse in Kriopigi with a separate annex in the garden for guests.

It was on the market for £79,279 and the owners would not accept the lower offer.

Mark said he would "leave the offer on the table", and Laura seemed to agree he and Kathryn might still be in with a chance.

She said: "I don't think you've heard the last from that."
