Marinakis had declared his desires for the club to qualify for Europe within five years of his takeover with Nottingham being promoted to the Premier League for the first time in 23 years in 2021.
Drug trafficking investigations have also plagued the Marinkakis family with investigations by the Greek Coast Guard, the DEA and Greek judicial authorities culminating in a number of allegations.
Nottingham Forest FC chairman Nicholas Randall wrote an open letter to supporters reaffirming his support for Marinakis.
He also confirmed the matter was under investigation but that "there is no ‘charge’ against Marinakis and no ‘prosecution’ in the process."
In 2021, a judge stated that there was no evidence implicating Marinakis concluding the investigation.
