Watch footballer score crazy goal from his own 18-yard box after smashing ball length of pitch to send commentator wild

December 20, 2021

SCORING from the edge of the opponent's 18-yard box is impressive, let alone the edge of your OWN area.

But that's exactly what happened in the Turkish second division on Sunday, as a Vanspor player found the back of the net from his INSIDE his own team's box.

Hamza Kucukkoylu lined up to defend a corner for his side with the intention of clearing downfield if the ball came his way.

And clear the ball is what he did, and then some, giving it an almighty whack as it sat up invitingly for him.

He sent the ball sailing downfield, and it just kept going, catching out the helpless Inegol goalkeeper and bouncing over the line into the back of the net.

Even the cameraman couldn't keep up the screamer, with the ball almost sent into orbit as it arrowed its way towards goal.

The match commentator too could barely contain his excitement, and understandably neither could Kucukkoylu's Vanspor team-mates.

He was mobbed by the entire team after netting the long-range rocket.

Fans on social media were also left stunned by the effort.

A disbelieving supporter reacted: "The man hit the ball to space!"

Although others reckoned Kucukkoylu had help from the wind, which carried the ball into the back of the net.

One wrote: "Looks like the wind helped a little too."

But with most standard pitches measuring 115 yards in length, it means in all likelihood Kucukkoylu's goal was from the best part of 100 yards.

Even if he did have a bit of assistance from the wind.

The effort was his second goal of the game, helping Vanspor to a 3-1 win in the Turkish second tier.

How's that for a man of the match performance.
