A FOOTBALLER bizarrely punished himself for missing a big chance to score by doing PUSH-UPS on the pitch.

The match was tied at 2-2 in the 48th minute when the striker missed a glorious opportunity to put his side ahead.


The goalkeeper charged out of goal missing the ball leaving the net gaping for the opponent.

He swivelled and on the half volley he shot, but sliced it well wide of the target.

Distraught at his mistake, the player began punishing himself for the miss doing push-ups on the pitch as the game continued.

Even the commentator of the match betweenEagle Claw FC and Spartans FC on the Caribbean island of Anguilla couldn't believe it as he shouted in shock: "Oh he kicks it over the top.

The commentator began counting each rep: "One, two, three, fourty, fourty-one."

Fans online found the situation hilarious, and one said the commentary: "Was as good as the push-ups."

Another said the match was: "Game of the season."
