BARCELONA currently lead a pack of Premier League teams in the race to sign Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves.

Sky Bet price the Spanish giants as 11/10 favourites, with Manchester United, Arsenal and PSG, among other Prem clubs, also linked with the midfielder.

The Portuguese midfielder has been a mainstay in the Wolves team since signing for the club in 2017, helping Nuno Espirito Santo's side win the Championship title in his first season.

The £16m fee remains a record fee for a Championship signing. Neves has gone on to make 207 appearances for the club, including a run to the Europa League quarter-finals in 2019.

The 25-year-old, who helped Portugal win the inaugural Nations League tournament in 2019, is linked with a move away this summer, with the Nou Camp touted as a possible destination.

Sergio Busquets will be 34 by the time next season starts, and there are strong rumours that Frenkie de Jong may be following his former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag to Manchester United this summer.

So the Catalan club will be looking for experienced central midfielders to partner the flurry of youngsters they have in the position.

Manchester United are deemed to be Barcelona's closest challengers, with Sky Bet pricing a move for Neves to Old Trafford at 9/4, having previously been at 8/1.

It's expected to be a busy transfer window for ten Hag's new club, with United especially keen on signing central midfielders.

Nemanja Matic has confirmed his departure, with Paul Pogba set to join him, leaving just Scott McTominay, Fred and Donny van de Beek as the club's three senior central midfielders, which would likely make Neves a welcome addition to the squad.

Arsenal are also in the market for a central midfielder to partner Thomas Partey for next season. Albert Sambi Lokonga and Granit Xhaka haven't had convincing enough seasons for Mikel Arteta to be comfortable relying on either of them next season.

Sky Bet also price Newcastle at 10/1 to gain Neves' signature. The Magpies will be keen to splash their seemingly unlimited cash on improving their side with intention of sealing a European spot next season.

French giants PSG are also in the running to sign Neves with Sky Bet pricing the chances at 16/1.

Manchester City, Tottenham, Liverpool and Newcastle are among the others believed to be interested in the Wolves central midfielder, according to Sky Bet.
