Real Madrid want Jose Mourinho back at end of season after 'secret talks'

December 19, 2018

Mourinho was dismissed by Ed Woodward on Tuesday after guiding the Red Devils to their worst league start for 28 years.

And according to Spanish newspaper El Pais, Bernebeu President Florentino Perez is keen to bring him back as manager.

The media outlet have reported the European Champs are willing to pay the 55-year-old £18million-a-year.

Journalist Diego Torres, who wrote the report, also authored a book about Mourinho's spell at Real Madrid from 2010-13.

He claims Perez is already seeking to replace Santi Solari as Real Madrid manager.

Argentine Solari was only appointed permanent manager until 2021 last month.

Solari had a good start to his reign in charge after comfortably winning his first four games.

But times have turned sour since then after back-to-back 3-0 defeats to Eibar and CSKA Moscow.

According to a survey put to Madrid fans, re-recruiting the former Chelsea boss would be a popular move.

Perez has spoken fondly about the Portuguese since he left – and he believes he will bring back a competitive edge to his side.

This is not a common theme for other managers he decided to let go.

And there have been "secret talks" with the manager over a move back to Los Blancos.

Even Marcelo, who Mourinho fell out with in his time in Madrid, has backed him to return.

He said: "It is a real pity because he is a great coach.

However, SunSport reported Mourinho was tight-lipped about his future when asked earlier today.
